WOW - Part 2

Welcome to the 2nd Part of WOW - Ways of Working...!! Hope you might have got some learning from WOW - Part 1.

Today I will highlight some common issues that takes place in an organisation, some common mistakes of employer and employees and how they can be addressed.

In general case issues or problems arise due to Conflict of Interest. Different people have different minds and different goals in life. The entrepreneur perceive the goal to take his organisation to new heights and accomplish his goals, for which he invests money, take risk, expand his business reach, manufacture more goods and all this can be possible after hiring manpower. Every employer desire that every individual working in his organisation should have the same vision, mission and goal that he perceives.

But on the other side of the coin the employees have their own goals, visions, missions and milestones to achieve. The focus of employee lies in monetary gains, employee benefits and advantages that he expects from the organisation.

This is called conflict of interest. The interest of employer is to run his business and earn handsome profit to reach new milestones but in the process he needs the manpower that aligns to his goals and visions. The sync between the team gets disturbed and individuality exists over the team spirit. The conflict of interest further leads to Job Dissatisfaction and languidness to the employees.

Job Dissatisfaction is the dangerous disease that can ever happen to an organisation. It is the most contagious disease that keeps spreading from one person to the other in no time. An employee dissatisfied  with his job results into other satisfied employees turning their face towards the one who is dissatisfied and agree to his points of dissatisfaction no matter how wrong, illogical or unpractical they are.

The result of job dissatisfaction is most devastating when the employee remains into the organisation. It could be better if he leaves the job at the earliest and finds himself a new job that suits to his requirements.

Coming back to Conflict of Interests, there are two possibilities to avoid Conflict of Interest.

1. The employer to look after employee's interest.

2. The employee to look after employer's interest

So how do they do that ? What are the ways to practice the above 2 possibilities ?

The employer can look after employee's interest by being liberal in policy or believe in more profit sharing. The salary and benefits must be on value for work basis. The employer can surprise his employers by some gits, incentive or a fun gathering. Festivals are the best time to delight the employees with sweets, gift and incentives. The employee feels satisfied when he gets some favour. Another thing which satisfies employee is the leave policy. There has to be certain policies and procedures in every organisation but when an employee is in a dire need of leave or when his/her circumstances gets adverse, he always seeks help from the organisation, and by getting it he may never forget the favours and shall remain loyal to the organisation. The supportive environment for employee will always attract him to work harder and harder which helps employer to align with his vision and missions for his organisation.

The employee can look after employer's interest by being loyal, helpful and providing value addition for the task he is being given and serve the employer in all his business situations. Understanding the duties and responsibilities given to employee, one should well judge the situation and act as what would he do if he was an employer. For every employee to be successful in his job, he must think and work as if he was an employer and he has to take decisions. With employee satisfaction, there should also be a term of employer satisfaction. Without satisfaction in job, one can not perform whether it may be employer or employee. Another thing that is important for employee is to maintain the culture and respect for his colleagues and employee.

WOW - Part 1

Dear Readers...

Today I shall put my views on the how we work at the workplace, what mindset do we perceive and what we achieve.

Title "WOW" stands for Ways Of Working.

Starting from the day we get selected for a job, we are filled with joy of getting selected for the defined position. People often gets mistaken that they have got the job hence their life is going to be easy. But in reality, life starts to get complicated as they will be tested on various grounds and various situations. When the imaginations of easy life gets converted into the reality of difficult situations and continuous performance, employee feels his life has become hell, because the imagination & dreams did not come into existence. There starts the real problem called Job Dissatisfaction. It is the dangerous ever situation for employer and employee. Its is lethal enough for employer to loose an employee and for employee to loose a good organisation.

A bad start often gives a sad end & A good start is half a battle won...!!

So how to start your job on a good note ?  I have the answers for you.....

# As a new joinee in any organisation, always expect little from organisation and have a mindset to give.

# Cultivate habit to observe, speak less & listen more.

# Don't get carried away with the existing staff.

# Trust your abilities rather than anyone else.

# Don't think on negatives of organisation. Think of how you bring on the positive change.

# Have a smiling face with confidence & gratitude.

# Don't try to show off or dominate others by your position.

# Never talk about your previous employer or boss.

# Have a learning attitude and humble behavior.

# Never advise or interrupt others unless you are close enough to them.

# Help others and seek for help.

# Never assume anything on your own.

# Avoid oral communication & prefer e-mail.

# Be boss oriented rather than work oriented.

# Be social, not personal.

# As e new joinee never criticize people, policy or management systems.

# Read all the do's and don'ts of the organisation.

# Follow the policies and practices of organisation.

# Dress well and look pleasant.

# Discuss topics, not issues.

# Believe in the team-work.

Doing the above mentioned may look very easy and simple but difficult to apply because as we get to know people we become casual in approach but get noticed to management. A good impression from beginning gives good credit and respect as a person and keeps you away from all the complexities.

In the next part of "WOW" we shall discuss on issues faced by employees and employers and what could be the remedies to overcome. So don't forget to read the next blog.
