Uri Attack


First of all Tribute to the soldiers who have lost their life in protecting boundaries of India.


A slap to the world of terror who has no creativity and is full-packed with destructive activities.

 

In one of the deadliest attacks on the Army in recent years, 17 jawans were killed and 19 others injured as heavily armed militants stormed a battalion headquarters of the force in North Kashmir's Uri town early on Sunday. Four militants involved in the terror strike were killed by the Army. Heavily armed militants stormed a battalion headquarters of the Army. Explosions and gunfire erupted as the militants attacked the camp, which is located barely few metres away from the Army's Brigade Headquarters in Uri town, 102 kms from Srinagar, around 4 am on Sunday.

The jawans of the Dogra Regiment were sleeping in a tent which caught fire due the explosion. The fire also engulfed the nearby barracks, the sources said. 17 jawans were killed in the terror attack.

Helicopters from the Army's 19 divisional headquarters in Baramulla were pressed into service and the injured Army personnel were evacuated from the encounter site.

The attack comes two years after militants had carried out a similar type of attack at Mohra in the same area. Ten security personnel were killed in the attack that took place on December 5, 2014.

The Home Minister also called an emergency meeting to review the situation arising out of the attack on the Brigade Headquarters in Uri. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, the Union Home Secretary, top Army, paramilitary and Home Ministry officials.

List of jawans killed in Uri Attack :

As many as 17 soldiers were killed on Sunday. According to reports, a few bodies were charred beyond recognition. Here is the list of those who died in the Uri attack on Sunday. The soldiers, who died on Sunday, came from across India.

11:32 am : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti led senior Army and police officials in paying tributes at the wreath laying ceremony for the 17 soldiers killed in the militant attack on an Army base in Uri.

Pakistan rejected as "totally baseless and irresponsible" allegations by India that it was behind the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri that killed 17 Indian soldiers, saying India has a "history of blaming Pakistan" immediately after a terror strike.
Following the Uri strike, India had criticised Pakistan for the latest attack on the Indian Army. Home Minister Rajnath Singh directly blamed Pakistan saying it was a "terrorist state" and should be isolated.
Pakistan rejected as "totally baseless and irresponsible" allegations by India that it was behind the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri that killed 17 Indian soldiers, saying India has a "history of blaming Pakistan" immediately after a terror strike. Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria in an interview to a TV channel said the Indian allegations against Pakistan are "totally baseless and irresponsible".

According to The Times of India's Bharti Jain, one breach happened at the Line of Control near Uri and the second at the perimeter of the Army base where the fencing wire was cut. The security establishment is probing the two-point breach.

3:11 pm : Sepoy K Vikas Janardhan has succumbed to his injuries at the R&R Hospital in New Delhi. The death toll has now risen to 18.
3:22 pm : Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia to 3 martyred soldiers in Uri from Bihar.
4:06 pm : Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, NSA Ajit Doval and Army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhaag at his official residence in New Delhi on Monday. 
According to reports, Modi and his ministers decided against any knee-jerk reaction to the Uri attacks, However, PM Modi and his cabinet of ministers agree that Pakistan must be isolated on the world stage. 

We, the Indian citizens don't know what further steps would be taken and what would be the next protection strategies, but one thing is sure over the years that India is considered as a soft target and now it is the time to show the terror supporting countries that what India can do to protect its boundaries.

I wish the Government would take some serious steps to stop such activities in future, but 18 lives we lost today would never come back.
